HOLE

Hole fue una banda de grunge (considerada a veces como rock alternativo) formada en Los Ángeles en 1989. La banda, fundada por Courtney Love, Eric Erlandson (guitarra eléctrica) y Lisa Roberts, se separó en 2002. Lisa Roberts (bajista) abandonó el proyecto al poco de comenzar. La banda tuvo durante un periodo una alineación de tres guitarras, siendo el tercero Errol Stewert, pero el primer álbum fue realizado únicamente por Love, Erlandson, la bajista Jill Emery y la baterista Caroline Rue. Emery y Rue abandonaron la banda en 1992, siendo reemplazadas por Leslie Hardy y Patty Schemel respectivamente. Hardy abandonó también tras grabar una única canción: el single Beautiful Son, y fue reemplazada por Kristen Pfaff en 1993. Kristen Pfaff murió de sobredosis en 1994, y Melissa Auf der Maur tomó su lugar desde 1995 hasta la disolución de la banda. En 1998 Schemel dejó también la banda, y Samantha Maloney entró como baterista. Según el recuento de "Vh1's countdown of the 100 Greatest Hard Rock Bands" Hole figura en el número 77.
