Mudhoney es una banda pionera del movimiento grunge formada en la ciudad de Seattle tras la disolución de Green River, grupo en el que estaban Stone Gossard y Jeff Ament (luego en Pearl Jam) y Steve Turner y Mark Arm
quienes luego formarían Mudhoney junto al baterista Dan Peters y al
bajista Matt Lukin. En 1987 sacan su EP debut, Superfuzz Bigmuff el
cual contiene su canción más famosa Touch Me I'm Sick, su música se caracteriza por un punk energético con algo de psicodelia y mucho garage, en 2002 se va su bajista y entra Guy Madison, quien tocaba en la banda paralela de Mark Arm. A pesar de haber coincido con todo el boom grunge y del movimiento de Seattle nunca llegaron a la fama ya que su estilo es muchísimo menos comercial que el de las otras bandas, más cercano al sonido de Nirvana en su álbum debut, Bleach.
