Banda de Hard Rock originaria de Los Angeles (California, USA) formada en el año 1980.
Aunque en 1978, ya los componentes de lo que sería Dokken se unierón y formarón la banda Xciter,
grabando un album llamado "Back in the Streets" y varios demos "Hard Rock Woman" y "Paris is Burning".
Don Dokken en 1981 viaja a Alemania, y es cuando cambía el nombre de la banda por el de Dokken.
A partir de ahí, y ya en 1982 es cuando realmente empiezan a grabar albunes con el nombre Dokken.
